On the Road After 40
Life on the road after 40. We work and work and work to save for that fateful day when we retire. We hedge our bets assuming we will make it to 62, 65, or whatever age we deem acceptable to “retire”.
Life on the road after 40 brings with it a series of challenges while at the same time brining certain blessings along as well.
Often, after 40, we are getting into the better years of life. We have learned from our mistakes of youth (if we are wise) and have started the process of living out wisdom.
For me, the years following 40 were dotted with the kids getting older and more self sufficient. It brought bankruptcy and divorce. Business hardship and loss. Yet, these were all a part of the learning processes of getting older.
Often, many folks begin falling apart physically as well. This is truly an American Capitalist issue. We have gained so much wealth many of us are “fat and happy”. In truth, we are lazy and gluttonous.
We look to medicine and doctors to prop us up while we do little to care for our well being. We are consumed with work to make more and more and more money; to what end I am uncertain. For it’s not coming with us when we die. Many, in my view, seem to believe this to be true.
Life after 40 begins a time in life we we can, if we’ve been smart, begin to pull back some and enjoy the life on the road, should we choose it.
I’ll discuss eating, physical challenges as well as work out that can help make our life out here more healthy. We will talk budgeting and financial considerations as well as those things which tend to wear us down once we pass 40.
