Gratitude
I believe that gratitude is the killer of stress and worry.
Yet, it sure is easy for me to lose track of those things for which I can and should be grateful.
Today I’d like to share with you a few thought patterns I’ve been having along with a video and an image revolving around this very topic.
Joshua Tree
We are spending a bit of time in Joshua Tree National Park so I just had to do some photography.
In today’s post, I’ll rant a little bit about Tree Huggers and will also share some epic photos from our past few days with you.
The Wildflower Hunt
If God so cares for the wildflowers…
Jesus’ words about worry are linked to the flowers. This adventure into the desert in search of the spring wildflowers has been very eye opening. I have been to many desert sin search of wildflowers but have never seen anything quite like what we witnessed at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park last week. I wanted to not only share with you some of the photos I have taken while there, but also provide for you the video we produced and posted to our Youtube channel. You will find them all in this post.
Staying At the Salton Sea
Our time as workcampers has come to an end. We have left the Salton Sea area and begin our trek north through the deserts in pursuit of epic wildflower displays. Here are some photos from my time in the Salton Sea area.
Sin Blinds Us
We recently visited a hellscape in southern California called Slab city. A dark place inhabited seemingly by destitute drug addicts.
While we have little conclusive proof that all 160 or so “residents” were Meth heads, it surely was a “dark” place in which you could feel the evil all around.
Drugs seemed to be the currency of choice here and it was a dirty, chaotic mess of a place. It gave me cause to think on how people get to a place they would want to and feel comfortable calling this place “home”.
The Pain In Parenting
There is joy in parenting. So too there is great agony.
Nothing hurts us more as a parent than to watch any one of our children suffer through agony and hardship at their own hand.
If, today, you have a child in your life who is making poor choices, living selfishly, walking away from those things that are right and true, this article is for you.
If you know someone suffering with the above, this may help you encourage them as they struggle. I hope you find it helpful to you today.
“When I Retire…”
I hear so many folks talk about the magical day in which they come to “critical mass”.
Having reached some magical golden age, they will, in their vision, “retire” and really begin enjoy what little life they have left.
Americans have become slaves to the 401k, a promised Pension, Lifetime Health Benefits guaranteed, and amassing wealth to degrees never realized in the history of man.
I’ve been chasing all that my entire life and have come up disappointed and empty handed.
Today, it really hit me reading Jesus talk about this concept with his followers in the story of the Rich Fool as it’s called.
A story I’ve read many times took on a new feel this morning and I thought it was worth discussing.
Help from Subscribers?
I’m considering some upgrades and changes to my site. I now have the option to add a Members Only section to the site.
However, this will come with a cost. I am looking for input through this post, from you, as one of our subscribers as to how and what you might see at valuable to be added. Please read on and if you feel compelled, give me some of your insight into the matter!
Then I Was Terrified
We all face situations which scare us. They appear as daunting heights, potential tornados of emotion, even unscalable heghts. If I remember who made them all, who made me, and who’s side I’m on, well, it becomes easier to press on in spite of the fear.
There’s a lesson from Nehemiah I learned today that I want to share.
14 Days in Golden Canyon
A see you later for the Golden Canyon in Arizona.
We spent 14 nights in the Golden Canyon area of Arizona, just east of Phoenix.
It was a lovely, although dusty, time meeting some great new friends and learning a number of things related to our experiences out here.
