Take a Rest
Pain and hurt. Life brings it and brings it often. As we struggle with these things we can find peace if we look. Let me share with you why being out in the wild doing photography of the Milky Way helps me gain perspective and peace in the struggles of life.
You Won’t Win
We might as well accept it. We can’t please everyone. We just can’t. If we have a people pleasing bent it makes life pretty darn miserable as we attempt to keep far too many plates spinning.
Take heart, Jesus himself recognized this very fact. He addressed it in Matthew 11. Let me attempt to explain my thinking.
Michigan
The “Fall Color Tour” across Michigan has been less than successful in my book.
Today, as I think on how and why and also the parameters under which one typically must attempt photography and travel in Michigan, I am reminded of what my entire life was like living here. Well, in most respects any way.
Tyranny of The Dollar
I recently sat down and watched the movie Nomadland. A friend or ours recommended it.
It’s an interesting tale of a woman who chooses to head out to live in a van.
The movie includes a real life Youtube Persona named Bob Wells. Bob seems like a great guy! I enjoy and am a subscriber to his channel.
Bob is known for his beliefs on the Tyranny of The Dollar. He even, in the movie references this belief of his. I’d like to share my thoughts not only about the movie but how I believe Jesus talks directly to this way of belief and life.
No Eye Has Seen
No eye has seen. Paul’s famous words in 1 Corinthians 2 resonate with me today as I consider those things which God has in store for us who love him.
Having seen so much and so many amazing things, I cannot even fathom it being better than these. Yet, if I understand Paul correctly, those things will be.
Wow.
Just a Mist
We are but a mist and a breath. We have so little time to live out our purposes here on earth, yet we consume ourselves with worry, work, and “planning for retirement”, that golden day we finally start to live life like what we want to.
How silly I find this ideal set up in America for life.
Be Careful For What You Ask
Most of the misery in my life was self imposed. Yes, there were at times other’s involved.
However, if I really take time to study what and how the “bad things” happened to me that have, at the root is me. Rob. Doing what Rob wanted to do trying to make it seem like it was doing the “Lord’s will”.
It wasn’t. It was me, doing what I wanted to do, the way I wanted to do it, and then telling myself It was all The Lord.
Do you know anyone going through the same thing?
I’ll tell you, the havoc we can bring upon our lives is, at times, overwhelming.
But, we can always change and find our way. God is always willing to say, I got your back, now that you really want to turn it around.
A Friend and Her Pain
At dinner last night, Joelle and I sat with friends. Beth and Amy are sisters with whom I have been friends since high school.
Beth shared with us a recent heartache with which she’s now dealing and it’s a scary time for her.
I wanted to share with you some of our discussion and also some encouragement today from Psalm 107. I hope it helps comfort you.
