Gratitude
I believe that gratitude is the killer of stress and worry.
Yet, it sure is easy for me to lose track of those things for which I can and should be grateful.
Today I’d like to share with you a few thought patterns I’ve been having along with a video and an image revolving around this very topic.
Joshua Tree
We are spending a bit of time in Joshua Tree National Park so I just had to do some photography.
In today’s post, I’ll rant a little bit about Tree Huggers and will also share some epic photos from our past few days with you.
The Wildflower Hunt
If God so cares for the wildflowers…
Jesus’ words about worry are linked to the flowers. This adventure into the desert in search of the spring wildflowers has been very eye opening. I have been to many desert sin search of wildflowers but have never seen anything quite like what we witnessed at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park last week. I wanted to not only share with you some of the photos I have taken while there, but also provide for you the video we produced and posted to our Youtube channel. You will find them all in this post.
Staying At the Salton Sea
Our time as workcampers has come to an end. We have left the Salton Sea area and begin our trek north through the deserts in pursuit of epic wildflower displays. Here are some photos from my time in the Salton Sea area.
Sin Blinds Us
We recently visited a hellscape in southern California called Slab city. A dark place inhabited seemingly by destitute drug addicts.
While we have little conclusive proof that all 160 or so “residents” were Meth heads, it surely was a “dark” place in which you could feel the evil all around.
Drugs seemed to be the currency of choice here and it was a dirty, chaotic mess of a place. It gave me cause to think on how people get to a place they would want to and feel comfortable calling this place “home”.
Then I Was Terrified
We all face situations which scare us. They appear as daunting heights, potential tornados of emotion, even unscalable heghts. If I remember who made them all, who made me, and who’s side I’m on, well, it becomes easier to press on in spite of the fear.
There’s a lesson from Nehemiah I learned today that I want to share.
14 Days in Golden Canyon
A see you later for the Golden Canyon in Arizona.
We spent 14 nights in the Golden Canyon area of Arizona, just east of Phoenix.
It was a lovely, although dusty, time meeting some great new friends and learning a number of things related to our experiences out here.
Courage to Stand
Do you have the level of courage necessary to stand in the face of opposition?
Life is full of hard choices. Many of the choices revolve around “fitting in” or going it alone.
Often, it’s the going it alone part that is required to be more like Jesus.
Lacking No Good Thing
I found myself in Psalm 34 today. I had a note next to verse 10…from 3.5 years ago.
This led me to reflect on how wrong our country and the world went and contrasted that to how I chose to respond and what I believe are the blessings which followed because of my choices.
I made a video to answer a subscribers questions and it happened to dovetail nicely with this verse.
Good Gifts
You might be missing out in life because you haven’t asked.
Jesus encourages us to ask God for blessing. Yes, he really does, contrary to what you might believe or may have heard from religious leaders, the God of Heaven actually is interested in giving you good gifts in order to bless your life.
Doubt it? Read on.
