The Mountains Remind Us

" I lift up my eyes to the mountains—

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

Very little in this life matters in the end. So often, we put forth so much effort, time, and energy into things which translate into nothing.

So many hurry to get nowhere.

As of late, I am reminded of how grateful I am for the small things. In an early dinner with a friend from years ago, we talked about a number of things. Not the least of which is how God will remind us of how much he cares by showing us little tiny bites of Favor while at the same time reminding us of his vast power.

Hallett Peak stands above Dream Lake as the sun rises behind me in this photograph. This hike was done in the dark with my first born. She and I took a short trip to the Rockies in the fall a few years back to hike and spend some dad/daughter time together. She needed a break and I love to hike.

While this print is beautiful and in fact is on our wall, I remember well the hike in the cold and the dark with Elise. It's that, in the end which matters. That little tiny bit of memory sticks with me and will forever as I consider God's power, majesty, and glory when gazing over the lake toward the mountain.
