When Life Hands you a Downed Tree

Life. It’s full of various challenges that present themselves to us. On this particular trip, a quick trip up to Pisgah National Forest, we wanted to go up and visit Table Rock Mountain and the Chimneys for some sunset as well as some sunrise photography.

We have just passed an election cycle in the U. S. It’s been a very rough 3.5 years as we have listened to the news and other outlets doing all they can to discredit and shut down the current administration. Talk about facing obstacles!

Well, there apparently were other plans (for us on this trip).

As we made our way up the very long, nearly 10 mile road through the Linville Gorge Wilderness, we met with tree after tree blown across the road.

We were able to navigate around a number of them, although it was very tight to do so on a few.

But finally, only about 1/2 mile from the trail head, a huge tree was down and across the mountain road, blocking entirely the rest of the way up the mountain.

It was here I had to give it up.

I wasn’t all too happy about the fact that we had to turn around and head all the way back out of the gorge.

We decided to make our way over to Sam Knob, a nearly 3 hour drive from our location on the road.

All told, the evening treated us well and we were able to spend some glorious time on the mountain top called Sam Knob.

I shot some beautiful sunset photos and played around some with the Slow Motion effect in my Samsung Galaxy s9, the choice I currently film with.

Please take a few and enjoy the photos, and also the video from this session. I think you’ll really love the photos.
