The Milky Was was on full display as I shot 10 total vertical shots over the Harmony Borax Works train in Death Valley National Park. This train, long-since left behind from its heyday in the “borax rush” of the early 1900s, appears so small in the middle of the Death Valley wilderness. This train, a symbol of man’s ambition and intense reach toward greatness, pales in importance as it sits rusting in the midst of massive mountains, strangely desolate desert ground, and wide-open skies bedazzled with innumerable galaxies. This is one of my favorite locations to shoot the Milky Way.
