Two Medicine Lake

Glacier National Park

Sunrise over Two Medicine Lake Robert Anthony style

I was up early. Like 3am early to drive from Apgar Campground on the far West side of Glacier National Park all the way over to Two Medicine Lake on the East side of the park. While one can reach the Two Medicine Lake from the Going to the Sun road, this is a long drive up and over the Glacier National Park Mountain range to reach the lake for Landscape Photography.

Instead, I chose to head out and drive US Highway 2 all the way around the bottom of Glacier to get to the Two Medicine Lake for my sunrise photography session.

Sadly, the wind was…quite brisk…let’s just say that. It made for a very choppy lake. Not something I prefer when photographing mountains in the sunrise time.

Although, instead, I opted to drag the shutter some (slowing it down) to allow the water to show some movement across the frame. There were pretty clouds above the main peak and that made it worth it.

After the session, I thought it good to perhaps try and do a few hikes. There are a number of absolutely amazing hikes that begin right from the Two Medicine Lake parking lot.

I chose Scenic Point as the hike for the day. A 2800 foot ascension up the mountains totaling about 8 miles round trip for the day. My son Levi…he would have been proud.

Not the hardest hike I’ve ever done. But holy man was it windy at the top. Like, blow you off the edge of the mountain, not safe windy. Reminded me some of when Elise, my daughter and I chose to hike Mount Ida in the Rockies famed Mummy Range. Woah!

If you opt to watch the video, you will see a few shot where Joelle was nearly blown over by the gusts up there. Reminds me some of whenever they show a reporter trying to talk about the coming hurricane on which he or she is reporting.

Remember, you can purchase prints or licenses to use my video and photography should you find it useful for your marketing or promotional materials. Just drop me a line through this website to discuss any marketing needs you might have for drone video, photography or any other such concept.
