Death Valley Scouting November 2019

Sunset at The Badwater Basin

Sunset at The Badwater Basin

In November, 2020, I am planning to do a series of photography workshops in Death Valley National Park.

I wanted to head out to the park this November, (2019) so I could check out the lighting and all that takes place in the fall.

I have been out in the spring multiple times, but never in the fall.

I had a great time.

I camped at Emigrant the first night, 2000 feet up about 3 miles beyond Stove Pipe Wells.  The next two nights I set up camp at Texas Springs.  What a beautiful campground!  I loved it there.  Centrally located in Furnace Creek, but outside the bustle, it was a perfect spot in the center of the park to be able to get everywhere I needed to be.

It was a successful trip.

I was able to capture some awesome shots this time around.  Bad Water at sunset, Zabriskie at sunrise, Dante's View under the moon, the Mesquite Sand Dunes in the late evenings and some in the early mornings.

I had hoped to photograph some of the jets at Father Crowley Vista, but no luck this time around.  However, I did get the cutest shot of a small herd of wild donkey.  Perfect!

I can now say I am confident in the surroundings in the fall.

I hope that you will consider joining me at the park in one of the workshops next fall.  It will be a load of great fun, with a lot of challenge.

I did come to realize, this time around, How crucial it will be for people to fully understand that it takes some effort in some of the situations.  Dante's View requires some climbing, as does 20 Mule Team Canyon.  And the dunes do require some walking and traversing in sand.Check out the video for more information about the area and the plans...and what you should know. Consider joining me.  Come over, sign up.  (Check out the workshop page for more information.)

As with all things, there are new opportunities  waiting to happen and people to meet.  I met, for example, at camp on the first night, two of the sweetest kids from the Netherlands.  They flew into Vancouver, bought a van and are taking a year long road trip to Argentina.  I admire their guts.  We had a couple of very nice visits on my various hiking  and even an evening camp fire together talking and sharing. All things from health care, Socialism VS Capitalism, how the tax structure works in America as compared to their country, the homeless people in America,  to learning how to use the camera they brought for their trip and so on.

They both had a very infectious personality that you would be immediately drawn to.   Like my adventure this time, you never know who you will meet and what kind of fun you will have unless you take the leap of faith and join us for one of these adventures.

Come on along!
