Let’s Talk Faith

“Alright, Lord, you win.”

That’s the latest in my conversations with God.

Here’s why.

As previously mentioned, I am struggling with video content and the direction I want to take our Youtube channel.

I’ve been reading the Youtube Formula and it is in fact helping me to find my way in the process.

However, it’s also created some levels of confusion. But no more (thankfully).

I think I’m nervous about it and I think I might now know why.

It’s going to mean I must do what I don’t really feel all that comfortable doing.

I’m going to have to develop the channel, my life, what we are doing with livingwithrob around the F.O.C.U.S. concept.

That must be my “focus”.

As I am working through this learning process with the Youtube Formula, I have asked a few friends to join us as I form a team of advisors and helpers. Dave, Candace, and Elise all have agreed to participate in some way shape or form with the process. (I am still looking for a few other advisors).

The theme that keeps coming up is the story telling, the emotional draw, the encouragement. Do these things. Tell the “dad” stories as my daughter calls them.

To make matters worse, Joelle keeps harping on it too…relentlessly. (yes, I actually do see this as a good thing)

I am concerned about doing so however.

Yet, this is the direction I must take.

Two days back I was on a morning walk, the time I use to talk directly with the Lord and also to listen to what he might say. I’ll often listen to a ministry style podcast. I happen to enjoy Charles Stanleys’ messages. Not at all a coincidence in my mind then, as I talked to the Lord about all of this confusion, when I opened my podcasting app, the recent release from Stanley that day was titled “Our Trustworthy Guide-Part 1”.

The message resonated.

Not long after this I received an email from Charles, a subscriber to this blog. (must be a Charles thing)

He asked me if there might be any way at all to get the FOCUS concept put into a bookmark or print or poster; anything that he might be able to pick up related to that concept.

He reads the blog and visits the website as likely the majority of you do; through his mobile device.

How FOCUS shows on my mobile phone

The mobile version shows the FOCUS vertically and indeed, it is a nice layout.

Not coincidentally, Joelle has been talking constantly about needing to get a bookmark developed using the FOCUS on the front page of the website that we can give out in our travels. Geez.

When Joelle and I talked about this, Charles’ message to me and his request was the final confirmation to me in the Lord’s message.

Work on FOCUS and stick with that. Everything you do, everything you talk about, the range of stories, all of it, weave the FOCUS around it…one letter at a time.

Well, in practicing my own teachings or writings that’s exactly what I need to do.

It’s daunting.

I am not a teacher. I am not a theologian. I do not dissect the scriptures to discern the ancient Greek or Latin or Hebrew to determine what a verse might “REALLY MEAN”.

I have been and will likely continue to be disliked by the educated in the faith. And I struggle some with not being well liked.

But I can tell a good story and I do take a decent photo every now and again.

Let’s use that.

I remember a discussion Paul, a good friend of mine, and I had over dinner a month or so back. It was his belief that there must be a wealth of stories to gather and tell from my 38 years in the flower business.

He’s not wrong. Note to self. “Call or message Paul for another dinner meeting soon”.

So, one letter at a time we are going to work through each of the letters and the inspiration behind them.

In my next writing, we will begin to work through Faith and how crucial it is to really gaining proper focus in this life.
