I Am Now A Pilot!
Happy day! I have attained YET ANOTHER success in my already wonder filled life.
Yesterday, I am pleased to announce I passed the FAA Part 107 SUAS pilot exam. I am officially a registered, real deal, fully legal FAA certified pilot for drones.
This comes with a number of hefty responsibilities.
However, the experience has been pretty great.
I can read aviator weather briefs and can dissect all charts and maps used by pilots along with their icons and meanings and more!
It’s really neat.
It’s no small thing to study for, take, and then pass this exam first go around, but I did and it’s a huge stress relief.
It’s been all I’ve focused on since returning from my spring trip.
The wonderful thing about it is, quite frankly that I can now
A) Begin selling Drone Video and Photography services commercially
B) Legally have Youtube monetize my videos which contain drone photography and video
I have thought for some time offering Aerial Photography services would be a great opportunity to expand my income…doing something I really enjoy. Photography and flying the drone.
The FAA is big on anyone doing so to be licensed.
I always thought this was stupid. However, having studied this topic for months now, I certainly can see why.
Safe operation and fully understanding airways and weather is a lot bigger deal than I would ever have imagined.
So Homey the Clown here (me) can now do so while avoiding their wrath by doing so illegally. (The fines are unbelievably high if caught doing so)
Once I get to 1000 subscribers and some ungodly high minutes of view time on my channel, I will be able to monetize my videos.
The ultimate hope, being, of course, to launch my life in a different direction pursuing independent travel, photography and videography. A man, his van, and photography.
Yep. That’s my next plan
To quote one of my recent subscribers on one of my videos…and I loved this;
“Don’t over plan…but have a plan.”
Love it.
New Video coming tomorrow.
rob out.
